Sunday, 19 October 2014

Last week before half term.

You have this week and half term in which to film.

Identify considerable blocks of time when everyone is free to film.  This means all periods, One to Five!.  That includes those where you might not normally come into college.  Be as flexible as you can.  Remember you have a responsibility to each other because you are working a s a group.

If you miss this deadline, you are going to seriously begin to jeopardise your final grade because we will be starting both the Film Poster and Film Review after half term.  You will find it difficult to cope with so much to do.

If you are filming in media lesson time :-

  • E mail Marion and myself, in order tat we can register you as present.

  • don't miss any other lessons apart from media lessons to film,
  • ensure you complete your risk assessment for your shoot (easiest way is to film yourselves doing a risk assessment).
  • you should have discussed the filming with your supervisor.

Monday, 6 October 2014

Permission to film in lessons.

This is only possible once we are convinced that you have planned sufficiently well.  If you have a double period or the One and a Half Hour period, you may be able to extend this into lunch, break or study periods and thereby make a very lengthy filming session.

If you intend to do this, you must get permission from  Marion and  Myself- speak to us and send us an e mail explaining where you will be filming with a contact number.

You cannot miss other subject lessons to do filming

Deadline Two - Pre-Production Deadline. Friday 10th October

 Deadline One

Research between 5 - 7 short films.

As well as analyzing the film language,

 make references to MRANG

Also consider the titling and credits

What have you taken away from each film - anything in particular that inspired you?

PLUS - think about the presentation - screen grabs, use of colour, clear structure, embedded video, hyperlinks and so on

OR, consider a different format for one of your posts - do a commentary over the top of the film, pause once in a while etc.  Look at The Technicians blog to give you ideas as to how you can do such a post - http://hhsfmediafilmhelp.blogspot.co.uk/2014_08_01_archive.html

2014-15 Advanced Portfolio

Your first few posts!

1. Make sure that you have your group photo.

2. Post your comments about your AS Thriller - upload the word document is acceptable.

3. MRANG - a glossary of the key terms used for each concept.  Create a post that will help you in your research - you must use terms and theorists in your initial research for deadline one.

You can also link to the Moodle page during the transition for the lesson notes for each concept

4. Complete your Summer Homework - VERY IMPORTANT!  In particular, think about your post on audience now.

5. Do an additional post on
Target Audience and Short films

Take the short film - Never forget.

  • Who do you think this would appeal to and why?
  • Where can it be viewed / has it been viewed?
  • Who is the film maker - established, unknown?
  • Generally, discuss the reasons behind the making of short films.

FINAL opportunity to improve your Short film and Film Poster

We have marked your Short film and Poster work over half term.

Read our comments (these are written in the comment box on your blogs under the final submission of product post)

We have indicated ways in which you can return to these products and improve them.  The suggestions that we make are fairly achievable in the limited time that we are giving over to you.  For some groups, we may not have made any suggestions becuase it is not worth the investment in time.  However, it is likely that you have been given comments about the Poster instead.

You have TWO weeks in which to make these alterations.

If you do act on our advice, you must write a new post and label it - "Final improvments to Short film and Poster" and write an expalnation of what you have changed (including timings for film alterations) and why.  We will then know that we need to remark the work.  No comment will mean that we will assume that no alterations have been made and the mark we have given will remain unaltered.

These alterations will need to be done in your own time - no lesson time will be given over to this.  In addition, normal media studies homework deadlines will continue and must be met.

FINAL deadline Friday 7th March
